MOST VALUABLE PROFESSIONAL

At Sherwood Middle, we have many talented, knowledgeable and gifted teachers, support staff and admistrators who have a genuine desire to see your children succeed. And even though we would like to spotlight every one on our school staff, we do take the opportunity to highlight one each month.

For the month of March, Sherwood is proud to announce the Most Valuable Professional. The worthy recipient Mrs. Olinde.

Mrs. Olinde is the school's secretary but to put that as her only title may be misleading. As most of you know, the secretary's position is one of the most valuable positions in the school or in the workplace office.

Mrs. Olinde started working back in 1974 in the Finance Business.  She had worked for CPA's and came to EBR school system in 1997 in Payroll/Benefits at Central Office.  Ms. Crawford hired Mrs. Olinde in February 2001 as the secretary here at Sherwood. When asked about Sherwood she replied, " I love my job, the students, and all the people that I work with."

Mrs. Olinde has been married for 27 years and has two children. She has a daughter Melissa, who is a Registered Nurse and a son who is going to college and working at Ruffino's.

We are very grateful for the services and skills that Mrs. Olinde brings to our school's campus and we want to let her know that, "Mrs. Olinde...we appreciate everything that you do for our school family."

Sherwood Teacher of the Year

Sherwood is proud to announce this year's Teacher of the Year. Mr. Alan Berthelot is this year's recipient. Mr. Berthelot joined Sherwood Middle in 2002 and has taught here for the past 8 years. He is a 6th grade Social Studies teacher and a 6th-8th grade Pre Law teacher.

Mr. Berthelot believes in the potential each and every one of the students at Sherwood has and he enjoys seeing them face their challenges and overcoming them. He is also an avid supporter of all Sherwood athletic teams and makes every effort to attend all games, meets, and matches.

Mr. Berthelot is a father of two and is also a grandfather of two. His family lives here in the Baton Rouge area and is a life long resident of East Baton Rouge parish. He attended EBR public schools since the 3rd grade and graduated from LSU in 2002 majoring in Elementary Educaction after having a 29 years career with Winn  Dixie.

Mr. Berthelot's message to all of his students is that we cannot learn if we refuse to be confused.

Students Nominate Most Valuable Professional for 2nd Nine Weeks

Positive Behavior Support

In an effort to instill in our students the character traits that will help them become successful, the Postive Behavior Support team will be posting each week, three character traits that students can think about and apply in their lives.

  • Gentleness vs Harshness

Showing consideration and personal concern for others

  • Responsibility vs Unreliability

Knowing and doing what is expected of me

  • Tolerance vs Prejudice

Realizing that everyone is at varying levels of character development
