Bonjour et bienvenue á la classe de français at Sherwood Middle Magnet School. My name is Mme Collier, and I am looking forward to an exciting and successful year of studying AND Speaking French with your child.
I have taught foreign languages for the past 20 years in the Louisiana and North Carolina public school systems. I have studied teaching and foreign languages at universities in Louisiana, France and Belgium and am continuing to practice and improve my skills by taking courses and working with local French organizations. I will be sharing my experiences in the language, the culture, and everyday living with my students in order to help them gain insight into a different way of looking at the world, at life, and at themselves.
Learning a second language is FUN. It is best learned through doing – participation is an absolute must if a new language is to be acquired. However, with the freedom of participation and action comes the responsibility of self-discipline and cooperation. Cooperative group work – oral and written – is a main ingredient in this course We will share our various talents - from drawing to note taking - And we WILL sing.
