Class Expectations

Routines

Everyday...

  • Enter the room quietly
  • Put any books or materials not needed under your desk.
  • Move your attendence magnet
  • Sharpen your pencils
  • Begin working on the Warm Up activity that will be on the dry erase board or Activboard.
Expectations

I expect from my students:

  • Full participation. Participation can be active or passive. Active participation is raising one's  hand and dialoging about the topic.
  • Passive participation is active listening with a pencil in hand, jotting down notes, questioning internally things being discussed.
  • Questions: I expect my students to ask questions when they don't understand something. Raise your hand and ask, write me a note, email me. Let me know you are confused. "We cannot learn, unless we agree to be confused"
  • Completion: Any homework assigned to be completed and brought to class on the day it is due.
  • Preparedness: Students to review daily any material covered in class and not wait for the teacher to announce a quiz or test.

From my  parents I expect:

  • A joint partnership in their child's education.
  • Communication from home to school. Let me know if you have questions or concerns before they become problems.
  • That they support their child's education, seeking places to genuinely praise success and help in areas of weakness.

I pledge to my students and parents:

  • I will be fair in all matters
  • I will do my very best to prepare my students
  • I will keep an open line for communication

My belief:

  • I believe that the deep root for education is to teach the student HOW to think critically. Subjects, such as Math, Science, Social Studies and Science are the tools we use acheive that goal.
  • I also believe that education has a responsiblity to create curiosity about a subject matter. Curiosity is the forerunner for inquiry and inquiry leads to learning.
